intro: back to 1800s?

Six years ago, when I was pregnant with my daughter, I announced that I wanted to try cloth diapering. Flat cloth diapering, to be exact.

Everyone was looking at me like I’ve gone mad. My husband was probably hoping that this was just pregnancy hormones that were temporarily turning me into a tree hugger.

I had no information about cloth diapering except for what my mom told me, and that info was thirty years old 😀 None of my friend even had kids, let alone knew anything about this subject.

So I googled. Collected some basic info (that’s probably where I first heard of Motherease and Snappi), and off I went into my adventure.

Some of my favourite comments I got were:

  1. Oh, you’ll give that tedious crap up as soon as you give birth, MARK MY WORDS.
  2. Your baby will be wet constantly and SHE WILL GET SICK!!!
  3. EEEEEW, GROSS.
  4. Why can’t you be like normal people and just use (insert the name of a popular disposable diaper brand)?
  5. It’s 2012, and you want to go back to 19th century??

Well, turns out they were wrong about all of that. Six years, two cloth diapered kids and hunderds of answered questions from other moms interested in the subject later, I finally decided to make my life easier by writing some sort of tutorial for flat cloth diapering. So here we are.

And my husband was right, the hormones did turn me into a tree hugger, only it wasn’t temporary 😛

PS: to whoever reads this, english is not my mother language, so I apologise for every mistake i make 😉
